Overview

The Sundarbans mangrove forest, one of the largest such forests in the world (140,000 ha), lies on the delta of the Ganges, Brahmaputra and Meghna rivers on the Bay of Bengal. It is the only mangrove habitat in the world for Royal Bengal Tigers. 


Considering the great value of Sundarbans it has become now part of the world heritage area. Therefore, the forest is equally important to nature-loving tourists. In addition, it’s being important to the naturalists, ecologists, biologists and scientific researchers as well. King Cobra, World’s longest venomous snake is also found in the jungles of Sundarbans. Shikra birds, spotted deer, and Lesser Adjutants are few of the animals living in this enchanting forest. Nothing can be more thrilling than watching a Monitor Lizards swimming across one of the channels, deer grazing at the end of the woods and colorful birds chirping happily in the trees while you take a relaxing boat ride.

Itinerary

Night 1

Departure from Dhaka at 10:30 pm (by Bus Coach Service)

Our vessel awaiting in Khulna Rupsha ferry ghat early in the morning within 7:00 am. Then start cruise towards the Sundarbans forest. On the way, the boat will stop at Dhangmari / Chandpai Forest station.

Take the permit & pay the fees and take 2 forest armed guards then visit Harabia Forest Office. The cruising will continue till Kotka upon arrival.

Guideline
  • A package of 3 days, 2 nights is the optimal time to visit Sundarban, the longest mangrove forest in the world. Had a 10 hours train from Dhaka to Khulna. Then we joined the ship from the port. We were total 50 passengers other than the staffs. Many stops all the way with many stops at several tourist spots. Hiron Point, Blackberry beach, Jamtola, Kotka, Nirmala and Karamjal. Amazing trip. Our ship MV The Vesper was a great selection. Three meals a day including 2 snacks in between. Tried Bengali food. We saw many monkeys, deers, wild boars, crocodiles, birds but not tigers.
